I started carving about 9 years ago as a hobby. I had always wanted to sculpt but showed no aptitude for art in school, so I pursued a career in scientific research. But the creative urge never went away and when I met a chainsaw sculptor as saw what could be done with such aggressive, messy, noisy and dangerous tools, well, I just had to have a go.

Since then my hobby has become a passion and, whilst I still continue the science, I spend every free day carving. I am based inland from Stonehaven but I have carved all over Scotland, England, Wales and the east coast of the USA.
